First Father's Day!

Owen and Daddy

Owen, Daddy, and Grandma Carol

Our Family

Tony, Ami, and Mason (Happy first father's day to Tony!)

Happy First Father's Day Matt! Before I begin...Owen and I want to say how lucky we are to have Matt. He always tries his best for us and we appreciate it so much. I love watching Matt and Owen together. Whether it is their snuggle time together on Sunday afternoon's watching SportCenter or Matt combing Owen's hair. It is so precious to see their bond together. Being a father is much harder than we think. It is much more than going to work every day, coming home, eating dinner, and going to bed. It includes...going to work, providing your family with the best life can offer them, coming home, listening to fussy baby, and tired Mommy, and still taking the TIME to make them feel like they are special. Thank you Matt for taking the TIME to enjoy us!

So this is how we spent Matt's first father's day. We started at the Far Western for brunch with my family, followed by spending the afternoon at Grandma and Grandpa Mahoney's for a barbeque. Owen had several gifts prepared for his dad this day. First, he got Matt a book called, "I Love You Daddy." Second, a framed picture and mouse pad for his desk at work. Third...or should I say TURD!! Yes, Owen had his first BLOWOUT at Grandma and Grandpa Mahoney's house. This was the kind of BLOWOUT where even mommy had to call for HELP! This was the kind of BLOWOUT where a bath was necessary. Thank goodness I made sure to pack extra clothes! Let's just say the BLOWOUT was so bad I had to throw away his onesie, even after soaking it overnight! We are looking forward to many more great Father's Day's with Owen and his daddy (and I am sure we will have many more BLOWOUT'S to look forward to as well!)!

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY TO ALL! THANK YOU TO THE MEN WHO HAVE BEEN A POSITIVE INFLUENCE ON MY LIFE...I LOVE YOU!

Poop, toot, burp! 4 weeks! (6 weeks, almost 7 by the time I wrote this blog...oops!)

6 Weeks old! Yes, he is Mommy's little boy!

First trip to Avila Beach! Notice Lucy in the background.

Meething Thing 1,2,3,4! The Guerrero's!

Owen and cousin Mas! "Hey bud...!"

4 Weeks old! "Someone please tell me why I can't poop!"

I never would have thought I would be so proud to have my son poop, toot, and burp. It is the little things in life that make us smile! Owen has had some trouble with pooping regularly these days. It seems it runs (or doesn't run) in the family! Day 4 still no poop for little Owen! One nervous Mommy took him to the doctor thinking he might get a suppository, just to find out that I needed to give him some juice and water. Well, just as nature would have it...Little Owen relieved himself that afternoon. Let's just say...Grandma Lambert was here for the arrival and waited to see the delivery! Owen was one happy boy after being cleaned up! Grandma Carol also made me aware that Owen's Daddy also struggled with defecating as a youngster...once went 9 days! I can only imagine!

At Owen's 4 weeks appointment he weighed 8 pounds 2 ounces and was 20.5 inches long! Yay, Owen...he has gained almost 2 pounds since birth! Owen is currently drinking 3.5 ounces of formula every 3 hours during the day and every 4-5 hours at night. Yes, it is true...FORMULA! I gave breastfeeding/pumping my best shot. I just have to say mother nature didn't intend for me to milker. I endured 6 weeks of blisters and bleeding for this little angel and I don't regret a second of it, but I am much happier now knowing that I don't have to sit on my bed every few hours and be disappointed to only see an 1 ounce or 2 ounces below me. I am hoping baby #2 will have better luck( Don't worry folks...not for a couple more years!)! Breast milk or formula...Owen is a happy boy!

NASCAR Pit Crew---bottles, diapers, spit-up, outfit changes...1 Month

Sweet fellow!

First bath...not happy (notice his upper lip, looks like his moms)!

Daily walks with Grandma Lambert and cousin Mason

Loving some "guy" time with Daddy

OBC for Grandpa Lambert's birthday

We made it! Matt and I have successfully completed our first month of parenthood. It has definitely been a month we will never forget. We have experienced things we never thought we would...being crapped on, peed on, spit-up on, and tooted on. But when we look at our precious little guy, it makes all of it worth it. Owen has been a great baby and rarely makes a fuss, except when he has gas or is hungry. Let me just note, babies can make just as much noise as a grown adult. Owen literally blows us away!

Matt likes to refer to our family as a NASCAR pit crew. While I change Owen's diaper, Matt warms his bottle, once the diaper is changed, he works to dress Owen's upper half, while I work on dressing the bottom half. Once his limbs have been put into place, we meet in the middle buttoning. Hopefully, one of us didn't miss any buttons along the way...would hate to have to start over!

One thing I can say Owen does not like is to have his diaper and clothes changed, but other than that he tolerates pretty much everything. He even seems to enjoy an occasional bath. It takes him a few minutes to get used to it, but once he is warmed up he is happy again. He has been a good little trooper so far and loves getting out of the house.

Places Owen has visited in the first month:

San Luis Obispo, Lactation Nurse
Shaw's Steakhouse
Red Robin
West Coast Kustoms Car Show
Grandma and Grandpa Lambert's
Nana Bennett's
Target
Costco
Babies R Us
Macy's
Bank of America
Dominion Blueberry Farm
Cambria Vineyards
Dr. Hoffman's office
Orcutt Brewing Company

Milestones:
-Owen is currently eating 3 ounces (1 ou. breast milk and 2 ou. formula), every 3 hours during the day and almost every 4 hours at night).
-Current weight as of May 25th, 7 pounds, 3 ounces...growing by the minute!
-He can lift his head and turn it from left to right.
-Recognizes Mommy and Daddy's voices.
-Follows an object from left to right.
-Loves to stare at his constellation stars every night.
-Likes to be awake from 6-8 a.m. and 6-9 p.m., other than that the guy likes his rest (and so does mommy)!

Once Owen healed from his circumcision and belly button, he encountered another visit to the doctors office...clogged tear ducts. Although, it looks worse than it is, it definitely seems to be getting better. The occasional crusty, goopy eye still presents itself a few times throughout each day.

We are looking forward to the month ahead and can't wait to see more of the little guy's personality. He goes to the doctor this Monday for his 1 month check-up. After that, he has 1 more month before his first set of shots! Poor guy! I will do my best to update the blog as the month progresses. I hope you enjoy the pictures. I just finished our announcements so look forward to those coming to you in the next week or so.
