Mr. Owen---3 Months
Milestones:
-Current weight as of Aug. 1st, 12 pounds, 8 ounces, 24 inches (these are my own measurements and he was fully clothed when I weighed him).
-Eats 5 1/4 ounces every 3 hours and SLEEPS THROUGH THE NIGHT!
-Has discovered his hands and loves to suck on them.
-Smiles a whole lot more and loves to be talked to.
-Developing a much stronger neck and is working on being able to hold his head up.
-Doesn't "love" tummy time, but has to do it.
-Has started turning over on his side in his pack and play and when napping on the couch.
-When he cries it sounds like he is saying, "momma, momma!"
-Still having some difficulty going "poopy" regularly.
Month 3 has been a great experience with Owen! He is such a fun loving and sweet little boy. He has definitely developed his own personality. This month we have been trying new things with him like going swimming for the first time and spending more time in the water when taking a bath. I really want him to get used to the water and enjoy his bath time. So far, he is hanging in there.
Month 3 is a little hard for me because I am going back to work on the 15th, which means I am going to be missing Owen. Thankfully, my mom will be watching him Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, and the other 2 days he is going to Marian's Children's Center. He will be going to "school" with Mason and I know he is going to love it (I am trying to convince myself). It makes it easier sending him there knowing that his lead teacher was also my preschool teacher. I will be returning to work at Battles as a teacher tutor. I am so lucky because this year I will be teaching my own 2nd grade, Language Arts group. I will be working a total of 3 hours and 15 minutes a day, which is just enough time for my little man to be away from me. I am looking forward to my new job and I know it will bring better opportunities to our family in the future.
Matt and I celebrated our 2nd wedding anniversary on August 1st. We celebrated by going to dinner at Rosa's, while Grandma and Grandpa Mahoney watched Owen (thank you!). It is nice knowing you can get away for a little bit and know that your child is in good hands. With that being said, we received a very nice bottle of champagne for our wedding, which we still have not drank. So I put in the refrigerator 2 weeks ago thinking that we would have drank it by now, but it is still there! Someone told me champagne is like white wine, you don't want to wait to long to drink it. So hopefully, we will try it this weekend. I guess you can tell we aren't big champagne drinkers!
Matt is crazy busy at work and preparing for harvest! He is battling a huge mildew issue, which has blanketed the whole central coast. Every day he comes home and tells me about it. To make matters worse, we have not seen sunlight till about noon each day. Becoming vineyard manager with out and assistant is not the easiest job in the world, but I know he will make it work! Owen and I are really going to miss him when harvest starts!
Stay tuned for more updates!

The last 2 months have been such a memorable time in our lives. We are trying so hard to take in all that Owen does and really enjoy him being a baby. It is not always easy when you are sleep deprived, hot, tired, hungry, and hormonal to put a smile on your face. BUT...when you look at the little creation you and your husband made, it makes it all worth it! We are so proud of little Owen and love nothing more than spending our days and nights with him. He truly is a precious baby and we are very thankful he makes our job a little bit easier. Now, our next step is for Owen to move into his bedroom. Stay tuned...!
As far as Owen getting his shots, he was a champ! He cried for less than 10 seconds and pretty much slept for the next 2 days. He really wasn't grumpy and didn't seem to run a fever, but it was pretty hard to tell since our house was on average about 79 degrees. Following Owen's shots was an 8 day stint of no POOPING! He finally delivered after extra juice and water. My poor little man! I was once again was one proud mommy!
Happy Fourth of July!
We decided to hit the road this year for the fourth and head up north. Our good friends, the Bisho's, live near Walnut Creek and are always a blast to spend the holidays with. It wouldn't be the same not spending a patriotic holiday without them. This trip was also Owen's first trip out of town. We hit the road on Saturday and set out for the 4 1/2 hour drive. We planned on stopping in Gilroy for lunch and to feed Owen, but luckily, the little angel slept the whole drive. We were looking forward to some nice warm weather, but were surprised by how hot it actually was. On average it was about 95 degrees and Owen spent most of the weekend in a onesie and diaper. He was the best traveler and rarely made a peep while we were there.
On Saturday, Clare and I went and enjoyed a very refreshing adult beverage and a pedicure. Clare prepared a great pasta dish for dinner...can't wait to replicate the recipe! On Sunday, the boy's went golfing, which Matt says was miserably hot and Clare, Elle, Owen, and I headed to Walnut Creek for lunch and shopping. I will definitely be returning for some shopping here! On Monday, the boy's were back at it again. They headed to Oakland to catch the Oakland A's game. They sat right behind home plate, but there was a small price to pay for the great seats...sunburned knees! Clare and I took turns preparing food and drinks for their fourth of July barbeque. We also took Elle and Owen to the pool and I was able to park Owen in the shade and get a little sun myself. For dinner Clare went above and beyond and we had juicy Lucy's (yum), potato salad, the best appetizers, and smore's bars for dessert! We enjoyed a wonderful firework show, which of course, Owen slept right through. We were sad to leave the Bisho's, but we had a great time and Owen was a good little house guest.
Thank you Nick, Clare and Elle for a wonderful weekend!

First Father's Day!
Owen and Daddy
Owen, Daddy, and Grandma Carol
Our Family
Tony, Ami, and Mason (Happy first father's day to Tony!)
Happy First Father's Day Matt! Before I begin...Owen and I want to say how lucky we are to have Matt. He always tries his best for us and we appreciate it so much. I love watching Matt and Owen together. Whether it is their snuggle time together on Sunday afternoon's watching SportCenter or Matt combing Owen's hair. It is so precious to see their bond together. Being a father is much harder than we think. It is much more than going to work every day, coming home, eating dinner, and going to bed. It includes...going to work, providing your family with the best life can offer them, coming home, listening to fussy baby, and tired Mommy, and still taking the TIME to make them feel like they are special. Thank you Matt for taking the TIME to enjoy us!
So this is how we spent Matt's first father's day. We started at the Far Western for brunch with my family, followed by spending the afternoon at Grandma and Grandpa Mahoney's for a barbeque. Owen had several gifts prepared for his dad this day. First, he got Matt a book called, "I Love You Daddy." Second, a framed picture and mouse pad for his desk at work. Third...or should I say TURD!! Yes, Owen had his first BLOWOUT at Grandma and Grandpa Mahoney's house. This was the kind of BLOWOUT where even mommy had to call for HELP! This was the kind of BLOWOUT where a bath was necessary. Thank goodness I made sure to pack extra clothes! Let's just say the BLOWOUT was so bad I had to throw away his onesie, even after soaking it overnight! We are looking forward to many more great Father's Day's with Owen and his daddy (and I am sure we will have many more BLOWOUT'S to look forward to as well!)!
HAPPY FATHER'S DAY TO ALL! THANK YOU TO THE MEN WHO HAVE BEEN A POSITIVE INFLUENCE ON MY LIFE...I LOVE YOU!
